The EXPERIENCE

VALUES & APPROACH

A Heart of Humility

I approach all romantic documentation with a heart of humility. I recognize that allowing a stranger like me into raw life moments can be nerve-wracking and I respect your boundaries fully - it's the very least I can do. All I ask is that you come with a willingness to step out of your comfort zone a little bit. It's true what they say, sometimes we gotta risk it for the biscuit.

Trustful Kinship

I keep everything super casual to facilitate an environment where you feel free to do your thing and thereby trust me to capture it all. Only in that space of kinship am I best able to use my eye as a photographer and observer to capture meaningful interactions that feel natural and truly like you.

This means I don't operate on huge shot lists or Pinterest boards!

Honesty at Every Step

Honesty is one of my core values as a human and business owner. You deserve a working relationship where everything is upfront and honest every step of the way. Everything from packages to planning decisions, I show up for you like an open book and I hope you will too.

Coaching, not Posing

I'm sure you've seen photographers preaching that they won't pose you, but communication is an essential component of creating beautiful photographs. Instead of micromanaging each of your hair strands, I zero in on how you two interact together and mindfully coach you through actions that allow you the freedom of demonstrating your unique connection. That's where the magic happens.

Adaptability & Respect

Unless I need to step in and manage some aspect of the day (e.g. family photos), the last thing I want is to be a large presence on your day. It is your day after all.

I have intentionally curated my camera gear selection to fit into a singular backpack. That way I can remain respectful of your moments and simultaneously ready to adapt to whatever comes our way!

Light > Technical Perfection

For documentary and candid moments (i.e. ceremony, toasts, dinners, cocktail hours), I mostly photograph using the light available to me instead of blasting the space with flash. My primary reason is to preserve (1) the intimacy of the space in which I work and (2) the real feel of the moment. In my mind, a photograph with some grain or motion blur that mirrors your memory of the moment will always trump a photo that is technically perfect but void of feeling.

I'm Your Guide

When you hire me, you're also getting a personal guide to all things weddings. I've been around the block a few hundred times (quite literally) at this point and could do this with my eyes closed. I want to use all the knowledge and experience at my disposal to give you the best wedding experience imaginable from start to finish. I'll have your back the entire time, actively fighting for the best outcomes possible because you deserve nothing less.

THE 7 STEPS TO SUCCESS

Below are the core components of what you can expect when hiring me to document you. My photographic approach isn't everyone's cup of tea, and that's ok. You deserve an experience that is everything you thought it would be and more because your impression of the final product is heavily dependent upon how you and your photographer work together.

The best days I've photographed are the ones where the experience I provide aligns with your expectations and priorities, and I want you to come away from this feeling ecstatic about every detail.

The Word on the Street

"0/10 would not do again...but only because we only intend to get married once lol -- Our experience with Garrett as our photographer was absolutely wonderful! Words cannot sum up how much we would recommend him as a photographer (and a friend!!). His desire to bring the best of every individual to light inspires and we were astounded by how amazing the photos turned out. Watching him work you can clearly see how intentional he is with capturing the beauty in each moment. He is an excellent communicator and extremely thoughtful. Taking photos can be awkward but not with him!! He makes it so fun, capturing everything he promised to and more!"
